HC-SR505 Mini PIR Motion Sensing Module
The HC-SR505 is a compact, high-sensitivity motion sensor that utilizes Passive Infrared (PIR) technology to detect body heat. It is a smaller, "set-and-forget" alternative to the common HC-SR501, featuring a fixed default operation that makes it significantly easier to integrate into space-constrained projects. Due to its ultra-low power consumption and wide voltage range, it is particularly well-suited for battery-powered automation and security products.
Key Features
Passive Infrared Sensing: Detects motion by sensing changes in infrared radiation emitted by living beings.
Automatic & Repeatable Trigger: When motion is detected, the output goes HIGH for approximately 8–10 seconds. If motion continues, the timer resets, keeping the output HIGH until motion stops.
Compact Form Factor: Measuring only 34mm in total length, it fits into miniature electronic equipment and toys.
Ultra-Low Power: Draws less than 70µA, allowing it to be powered directly from a microcontroller's digital output pin if necessary.
Wide Voltage Range: Operates reliably between 4.5V and 20V, making it compatible with standard 5V systems and various battery packs.

Important Operational Notes
Power-On Calibration: Upon power-up, the sensor requires about 15 seconds to learn the ambient IR signature of its environment. Triggers during this "warm-up" period should be ignored.
Fresnel Lens: The white plastic dome (lens) increases the field of view to 100 degrees and protects the internal sensor windows.
Stability: Avoid placing the sensor near heat sources or in areas with high air turbulence, as these can cause false IR signatures.
